The 1000 Islands Region is an international tourism destination, encompassing communities on both sides of the Canada and US border along the St. Lawrence River and the eastern shores of Lake Ontario. The region takes its name from the more than 1000 islands that dot the lake and river along this international waterway. The region extends from Kingston to Cornwall on the Canadian side, and from Oswego to Massena on the US side.

The Absolute Tower in Mississauga, Ontario is part of a city centre that includes 5 highrise condominum towers. The local authorities had introduced an international design competition to design a 50-62 story building for the Absolute Tower. The international design competion received over 90 submissions from 70 countries around the world.
Construction of the 50 story Absolute Tower will start late 2006. It was designed by Yansong Ma. The building design rotates 360 degrees from bottom to top.

Visitors can test their courage by walking across the glass floor 113 stories above the ground. The first of its kind in the world, the glass floor give you that dare to walk on air experience, with only 2.5 inches of glass holding you 342 m in the air. One of the finest Neo-Romanesque buildings in North America. The buildings was constructed during the late 1800's. The exterior of the building is adorned with brilliant red stonework that can rarely be matched anywhere in the Americas. The most notable obvious feature is the dominating 103.6 m. high clock tower. Four gargolyes now sit peering out from the tower. The interior of the Old City Hall has many interesting features such as mosaics, murals and stained glass windows.

The building of the Houses of Parliament was begun in 1860. In their Neo-Gothic style, they look as though they have been transplanted straight from Westminster. The part that was destroyed by fire in 1916 has been completely restored.

You can visit the Parliament of Canada, see the Changing of the Guard and visit Rideau Hall, the residence of the Governor General of Canada.

Rogers Centre (formerly the Skydome), situated close to Lake Ontario and the CN Tower, the world's first multi-purpose retractable domed stadium, and now a defining part of the Toronto skyline. The dome hosts the Toronto Blue Jays, the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, and various sporting events and concerts. The roof moves at a rate of 21 metres per minute and takes 20 minutes to open or close. When the roof is open, 100% of the field and 91% of the seats are uncovered.

Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto is the corporate headquarters for the Royal Bank of Canada. Royal Bank Plaza consists of two office buildings: Royal Bank Plaza South and Royal Bank Plaza North. Royal Bank Plaza South, a skyscraper, is the taller of the two at 180 m; Royal Bank Plaza North has a height of 112 m. The exteriors of the structures are largely covered with glass; together they have more than 14,000 windows. Each of these windows is coated with a layer of 24 karat (100%) gold. The gold gives the windows a distinctive colour.
